The Takarazuka Revue and its early ties to Western classical music. When Kobayashi Ichizou Footnote 1 laid the first foundation for the Takarazuka Revue in 1913, he called the sixteen girls aged 12-16 who he had recruited Takarazuka Shoukatai, 'Takarazuka Chorus', but before they had even made their stage debut the following year he renamed them Takarazuka Shoujo Opera Youseikai.
